Sooner or later everything comes to an end. At some point, you feel bored and unmotivated with your jobs and you choose to end your relationship with your employer. But do we have good reasons for leaving a job? If you want something more or something different, it’s important to ask and directly talk with your boss before making extreme decisions. Maybe he/she is willing to give you more responsibilities or redefine your role within the company. So when is it time to take action and move on? There are no right or wrong answers, but some reasons are more valid than others. Read our list to understand if you should be resigning from your job:
- You are extremely stressed; it’s normal to experience stress at work, especially if you have to deal with deadlines. However, it’s not ok to hold on if it gets too painful and it starts affecting your life and health. In that case, I suggest an obvious option: run, now!
- You can’t advance in your career or can’t learn new things to improve your skills; you’ve been there for some time and yet there are no promotions in sight for you. And somehow you know they never will. It can be fine if you have the chance to keep on learning because you can stay there for a little longer. But if you are stuck with the same tasks, try to look around to develop your career and competencies.
- You don’t care about your job anymore; yes, you go to work everyday, but you feel apathetic. You are not motivated to do a great job and to achieve your goals, you just get through the day. That’s a very clear sign you should be quitting your job.
If you feel like you have all of these reasons for leaving a job, you should definitely start looking for a new job, something that can be inspiring and challenging. It’s very important to be passionate about what you do in order to be happy. Even if it means becoming a crazy painter. As Confucius said, “choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”.
