Demand for talent surged 7% year-on-year in February 2022 while the freshers and intermediate roles saw the highest intent to hire in Feb 2022 as compared to the previous month, according to the latest Monster Employment Index findings.
21 out of 27 industries monitored by the Index witnessed positive year-on-year growth in February 2022 as compared to February 2021. The job analysis report by Monster.com, a Quess Company, attributes the upswing in hiring to the impact of the announcement of the Union Budget 2021- 2022 on the economy.
The hiring trends activity has increased in the past six months with a 2% incline, while February 2022 saw a monthly uptick of 3% in hiring activity (Feb 2022 vs Jan 2022).
Telecom Sector
- Job share was the highest at the junior level.
- Demand was high for IT/Telecom and Sales/Business Development professionals at the junior level.
- Channel Sales, Business/Systems Analysis, and Corporate Sales roles look for experienced candidates.
- Demand for engineering professionals increased at the senior level during July-Dec 2018.
- Delhi-NCR was the top job hub for all IT-related opportunities across junior, middle, and senior levels.
Manufacturing Sector
- Manufacturing industry saw an overall growth of 7% in hiring during July-Dec 2018.
- At the entry-level, Customer Services/Tele-Calling professionals were most in demand.
- HR professionals clocked 3% job share; had the highest rise in talent demand at the middle level.
- Production and Production Management specialists witnessed a rise in demand at the senior level.
- Among metro cities, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai had the most job opportunities across all the three levels.
BPO/ITeS Sector
- Demand for talent in Banks/ Insurance/Financial Services and IT/ Telecom remained stagnant.
- Telemarketing, Transactions processing and ITeS operations were most sought profiles at the junior level.
- Demand for Sales/BD professionals grew across different levels of management.
- Demand grew over 30% in Accounting/Financial products at middle level of management.
BFSI
- Delhi-NCR had the highest job share and talent demand during Jul-Dec 2018 for freshers.
- Talent demand was up in Pune and Chennai by 12% and 16% respectively at the middle level.
- Bengaluru saw the highest talent demand during Jul-Dec 2018 for senior level jobs.
- Sales/Business Development professionals had the second highest job share at the senior level.
- Channel Sales specialists saw the maximum demand of 21% at the junior level.
CONSUMER DURABLES/FMCG
- Talent demand grew at international locations for junior and senior levels of management.
- Demand grew for specialist in Admin, Direct Marketing and Institutional Sales.
- Demand for talent was high at middle level of management in West Bengal and international locations.
- Job share grew for Engineering, Top Management and Sales/Business Development.
- Accounting & Finance and Business Management/Consultants/ Freelancers claimed growth in demand.
PROJECTS/INFRASTRUCTURE
- Engineering profiles had the maximum job share across all the management levels.
- With 6% job share, Accounting & Finance witnessed a rise in talent demand.
- Design Engineering specialists saw a growth of 12% at the junior level between Jul-Dec 2018.
- Hiring of senior level specialists for Highway/Roadway was up by 17% during Jul-Dec 2018.
- Delhi-NCR claimed highest job share at junior and senior levels during the comparison period.
RETAIL
- Demand for talent grew at middle level and senior levels of management during this period.
- Sales/Business Development roles were in demand across all levels of management from Jul-Dec 2018.
- Job share for Marketing & Advertising saw insignificant growth at the entry level.
- Jobs for Retail Sales professionals was high at various levels of management during the review period.
- Among key locations, Delhi-NCR had the maximum job share across various levels.
AUTOMOBILES
- International locations witnessed a growth in talent demand at junior and senior levels of management.
- Specialist in Banks/Insurance/ Financial Services and Accounting & Finance were in demand.
- IT/Telecom and Marketing & Advertising claimed a drop-in talent demand at the senior level.
- Job shares for IT/Telecom and Marketing & Advertising and Institutional sales reduced.
- Demand was high for Production/ Manufacturing/Maintenance functions at the junior level.
HEALTHCARE/PHARMA
- Recruitment scenario for senior level professionals was better than junior and middle levels.
- Doctors/Nurses/Medical Professionals were among the top desired skills in the sector.
- Engineering professionals were also in demand at all levels between Jul-Dec 2018.
- Mumbai and Delhi-NCR were top employment hubs for all management levels during the period.
- Core roles saw a continued rise in demand at the junior level in the last six months.
LOGISTICS
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management profiles saw most demand across management levels.
- Demand for talent grew at international locations for junior and senior levels.
- Talent demand grew for professionals in Engineering IT/ Telecom and Export/Import functions Demand grew over 30% at junior and middle level of management at international locations.
- Job share for junior level was dominated by support roles, while middle level was ruled by core roles.
